Mr. Richards is an experienced real estate, small business and estate planning attorney. He graduated from High School in Groveton, Texas and then received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Baylor University. He was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1994, and was licensed to practice law that year.
He served as an Assistant District Attorney for the 254th Judicial District in Trinity County, Texas and was a partner in the law firm of Price and Richards from 1994 to 1995. He moved to Kerrville in 1995 and began his solo practice in August of that year. In May of 2000, Mr. Richards joined with Mr. Pattillo and Mr. Harpold to form Pattillo, Richards & Harpold, P.C. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and The Kerr County Bar Association.
Mr. Richards’ practice is concentrated in transactional law, where he has extensive experience in real estate acquisition, development and finance. He regularly counsels client’s in all aspects of real estate ownership, and often works with clients in the purchase and sale of multi-million dollar commercial, ranch and residential properties. In addition, Mr. Richards is counsel to numerous small businesses throughout the Hill Country, where he advises his clients in all phases of business ownership – from setup and management to the transition of ownership. In his estate planning and probate practice, Mr. Richards compassionately and patiently helps his clients navigate the decisions one faces in both planning for the transition of their estate and in administering the estate of a loved one. No matter the size or type of the transaction, Mr. Richards thoroughly enjoys the relationships that are forged with his clients and the honor it is to serve as a trusted advisor to them.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Richards is an active elder and pastor of The Soul Café (a non-denominational bible church). And yes, you can be a lawyer and a preacher at the same time. He also serves several local, non-profit groups, including Westwood Ministries, Inc., The Alpha-Omega Center and Heritage School. Mr. Richards and his wife, Kim, reside in Kerrville with their five daughters. When he is not enjoying time with his family, you might find him enjoying the beautiful Hill Country on his Harley.
